Nestled among the hardwoods of East Hollow, The Threshold Cabin is becoming the first completed home in Oak Hollow’s long-term, off-grid living community near Boaz, Alabama.
It was created for one purpose:
to offer a peaceful, safe, beautifully simple place to live for someone ready for a slower, quieter life.
This is not a campground.
This is not a tiny house showcase.
This is a real home — thoughtfully designed for year-round comfort and intentional living.
The Threshold Cabin follows East Hollow’s standard Threshold Cabin model, setting the baseline for how life is lived here.
🌲 A Space That Feels Like a Breath of Fresh Air
The Threshold Cabin is cozy, warm, and crafted by hand. Inside, everything is intentionally simple — nothing extra, nothing missing.
Inside the cabin you’ll find:
- 12×16 footprint — small enough to feel grounded, large enough to feel like home
- Natural 1×6 pine walls and ceiling, warm and timeless
- Wood-burning stove, quiet and comforting
- Twin-bed nook with open floor plan
- Gravity-fed kitchenette for minimalist living
Just outside the cabin is a dedicated Hearth area, which includes:
- A 4×6 outdoor composting toilet
- Integrated firewood storage
Together with the cabin, the Hearth keeps daily life connected to the outdoors while preserving simplicity inside.
Every inch of the Threshold is designed for ease, comfort, and authenticity.
🛠️ A Note About the Cabin’s Current Stage
The Threshold Cabin is in its final stage of completion.
Interior pine walls and ceiling, along with the Hearth structure, are being finished this winter. Much of the cabin is already taking shape, and walk-throughs are welcome during this phase.
Many future residents enjoy seeing the cabin in progress — it helps them imagine their life here as the space quietly comes together.

You live independently in your own cabin, while also having full access to The Hub, our shared community center, which includes:
- Hot shower
- Clean restroom
- Kitchen for cooking
- Washer + dryer
- Quiet reading and writing room
You have privacy at your cabin — and support when you need it.
🔌 Power, Systems & Simplicity
East Hollow is fully off-grid, but designed carefully for comfort.
The Threshold Cabin includes:
- A dedicated generator house with hookup
- Option to bring your own generator or use Oak Hollow’s
- Solar systems are welcome and encouraged
Daily life here is simple — but never careless or uncomfortable.
💵 Simple, Flexible Pricing
We want the Threshold Cabin to feel accessible while still reflecting the care, infrastructure, and support provided. Pricing is structured in two clear layers.
Option A — Base Rent Only
$795 per month
Ideal for residents who prefer managing fuel and firewood themselves.
Includes:
- The Threshold Cabin
- Dedicated generator house and hookup
- Full access to The Hub
- Garbage service
This option keeps monthly costs low and predictable.
Option B — All-Inclusive Package
+$350 per month
Designed for those who want the simplest possible off-grid living experience.
Includes everything in the base rent, plus:
- Predator 5000 generator (provided by Oak Hollow)
- Up to 40 gallons of fuel per month
- One rick of firewood
- All generator maintenance
- All fuel handling
- Trash removal
Total with All-Inclusive Package: $1,145 per month
Additional fuel beyond 40 gallons/month is billed at cost.
